Why we created Word Stash
Here is some information about word games;
- Games are highly motivating because they are amusing and interesting. They can be used to give practice in all language skills and be used to practice many types of communication.
- Word games benefit the brain because they activate parts of the brain that deal with language and word finding, which forces the brain to exercise, work and be active.
- Dr. Michael Merzenich, PhD, one of the leading pioneers of brain plasticity research has suggested that word puzzles should be more challenging for better benefits, such as adding a time limit or doing a puzzle that is higher than your normal skill limit.
When we were surveying the current word game market, we saw games that were all the same concept and quite honestly lacked a feeling of challenge. With Word Stash, we wanted to introduce something far more challenging and therefore we created our game with nine letters and added a time component.
It is our hope that through our game, we will provide users a fun, fast way to train their brain (keep the brain active). Exercising the brain with such puzzles has also been implicated to help in prevention for certain neurological conditions.
The statement “knowledge is power” is almost universally known. Learning new things and growing your knowledge base is an important aspect to life. According to a 2017-2018 study done by the United Nations, there are about 263 MILLION children who don’t attend school globally. They also found that poverty is attributed as a large cause for this. Growing up, we were blessed to have an amazing education and have seen firsthand how education/knowledge really is power. It is our hope that our app can play a role in education, and provide people a fun way to learn new words and build their vocabulary.
Tying into the reasons for why we created this game, we want to give back to the community. Therefore, we support organizations that specialize in things like medical research, brain conditions, and empowerment through education by making charitable contributions from earnings generated by the game.
